Italy has an abundance of wildlife on the mainland and in the Mediterranean sea. Italy is mainly farmland and has some mountains. There are Marsican brown bears and wolves. Italy has several national parks to help preserve these endangered animals. More endangered/rare animals include the Peregrine Falcon, a goat type animal called a chamois and the golden eagle. in the mountains and forests but they're habitat is being destroyed from forestry to make room for hotels and such.

     There is a wide abundance of birds in Italy, over 150 species! In Tuscany birds such as the imperial hawk, the royal seagull, the Corsican seagull, and the Pellegrino Hawk. Birds that migrate find it hard to cross the Mediterranean Sea, instead they go to the island of Calabria and from there they go to Africa. Most birds usually come back to the Italian mainland in the spring.

     There is a vast array of Italian plants. A lot of trees are used for the culinary arts such as citrus trees, olive trees for olive oil and for the olives. Nut trees like hazelnut trees and chestnut trees are abundant throughout Italy. Italy depends on its olive trees and nut trees for exporting. It is one major export and they can get a big profit out of it. Herbs are everywhere in Italy from in the forest to peoples backyards. Common herbs like basil, parsley, and oregano are a must have in a restraunt in Italy.Basil plant
